GEAR TESTS: PANASONIC LUMIX GH4

There is only so much room in the bags they let us bring on these trips, and sadly, we didn't make room for our GH4 housing. But I wanted to include this housing because I am so familiar with it. I've shot a lot of Panasonic GH4 video, and still think it is a really cool way to get 4K, especially in scenes with a good amount of light.

The Nauticam housing definitely has the best lens support. You can shoot just about any lens you'd want to, and have both glass and acrylic options available for most. One of the micro 4/3 advantages is a large selection of great lenses. Although not shot in Roatan, here's a video I shot using the Panasonic GH4 while on a trip to Bali.

The meticulously crafted GH4 housing expands the possibilities for professional photographers who demand the best performance and reliability in the most challenging environments. The camera itself performs amazingly - super color rendition on the photos and, though I did not use it with video, the request from those concentrating more on video was tremendous, as they wanted the 4K capabilities of such a small camera. Tim Blanton, the Photo Pro of Coco View, is now sponsored by Subal for his next video production where he will be using the GH4 when he goes to Cuba in August to film on the Aggressor fleet.

The Panasonic DMC-GH4 is a trend-setter! With 4K video, an incredible range of lenses to choose from, and stellar performance both in video and still mode, the Aquatica AGH4 housing was designed from the get go to be the best solution for those looking for pro level performance in a compact, easy to travel with housing system. This year's Digital Shootout in Roatan was the perfect occasion to add to the already intense field testing of our AGH4 housing for the GH4. We had the 4" dome port for fisheye, the SW-8 for the 9-18mm and the O-60 macro port. These were made available for participants to try as part of the extensive demo gear available at the Digital Shootout. The AGH4 housing uses optical fiber technology to get the S-TTL signal from
the underwater strobes, this makes for zero maintenance in a reliable and stream-lined package. The housing is quite compact and lightweight compared to regular DSLR kits, yet, its level of performance does rival them. Also, the Micro 4/3 series of lenses gives this system an excellent range of optics that are perfectly adapted for underwater photography.
